Risk

Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others, for those voices.

Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.

- Katherine Mansfield

the power of kindness

"Kindness has to do with what is tenderest and most intimate in us. It is an aspect of our nature that we often do not express fully — especially men in our culture, but also women — because we are afraid that if this vulnerable side comes to light, we might suffer, be offended, ridiculed, or exploited. We will find rather, that we suffer by not expressing it. And that by touching this nucleus of tenderness, we enliven our entire affective world, and we open ourselves to countless possibilities of change." — Piero Ferrucci in The Power of Kindness

Taking the risk

Mira and Maggie being goofs.

"People don't know how to love. They bite rather than kiss.
And they slap rather than stroke.
Maybe it's because they realize how easy it is for love to go bad
—to become suddenly impossible, unworkable, an exercise in futility.
So they avoid it and seek solace and angst and fear and aggression
—which are always there and readily available. Or maybe sometimes,
they just don't have all the facts."
-Lavender "Popeye" Wolfmeyer

Let's go all the way!

Bozos

We're all bozos on the bus,
so we might as well sit back
and enjoy the ride.

-Wavy Gravy

anger

Anger and resentment can stop you in your tracks.
That's what I know now. It needs nothing to burn but the air
and the life that it swallows and smothers.
It's real, though - the fury, even when it isn't. It can change you...
turn you... mold you and shape you into something you're not.
The only upside to anger, then... is the person you become.
Hopefully someone that wakes up one day and realizes
they're not afraid to take the journey,
someone that knows that the truth is, at best, a partially told story.
That anger, like growth, comes in spurts and fits,
and in its wake, leaves a new chance at acceptance,
and the promise of calm. Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.

-quote from Popeye in the upside of anger

Valuable things

The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms.
The really important things are not houses and lands,
stocks and bonds, automobiles and real estate,
but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith.

Happy Birthday Bobby!!!!

Today is my boyfriend, Bobby Weir's 60th birthday.
He is still hot.
Happy Birthday Bobby.
I am waiting for you to come back to see me in Cleveland soon.

Mark got to interview him for the Plain Dealer like in 1999 or so.
He got to call him in his hotel room in some city...I don't know where.
It was prior to his Ratdog concert in Cleveland.
He had to ask for "Hugo Fuggeseff" at the hotel desk to be connected with him.
That was the name he checked in as.
Say that name a few times....see if you get it.

Let it go

You must dare to disassociate yourself from those
who would delay your journey... Leave, depart,
if not physically, then mentally. Go your own way, quietly,
undramatically, and venture toward trueness at last.

The Opening of Eyes

MACER

Life is no passing memory of what has been
Nor the remaining pages of a great book
Waiting to be read..................

It is the opening of eyes long closed
It is the vision of far off things
Seen for the silence they hold
It is the heart after years of secret conversing
Speaking out loud in the clear air

~ David Whyte ~

The Infinite Abyss

Andrew Largeman: Hey Albert
Albert: Yeah?
Andrew Largeman: Good luck exploring the infinite abyss.
Albert: Thank you, and Hey, you too

Paul Simon is right ....half of the time we're gone and we don't know where.....we don't know where.

I think Garden State is one of the most spiritual movies I have seen and one of my favorites!!
Ever see it???
It is about this guy who has been numb for years and how he learns to awaken, confront his demons ...........so he can open his heart and explore the infinite abyss.
I loved watching him come alive.
Love,
Michele

Oneness

What is the nature of
this new world we are
exploring together?
It is totally unlike anything
you have ever experienced before.
It exists within you, a magnificent world,
unseen by the five
senses, but felt by those psychic faculties
attuned to it. It
is a world of authentic self-command.
You see, everyone knows
there is something missing from his life,
but does not know
what it is. What is missing is Oneness.

We do not, in fact, lack Oneness.
We are Oneness. The damage is
done by lack of realization.
That is why humanity is like a group
of frantic people who think
they must run on the riverbank along-
side the boat, instead of riding in it.
You are learning to ride.
-Vernon Howard
