Jim's toast

A Toast To The Fun Couple

by Jim Kelly

May 6, 1989

You have been together now
for over five fun filled years
It's been a lot of memories
it's been a lot of beers.

I noticed it first in 1983,
at a campaign function for Ferris Brown
There was this little blond haired girl
and she was following Mark around

But that following soon reversed itself
at a later date
When it was Mark, following Michele
every weekend down to Ohio State

And they say that long distance relationships
don't have a snowballs chance in hell
But I was observing this one pretty close
and I know that soon time would tell

Because they seemed to compliment each other's madcap antics
along with acquiring friends wherever they go
and laughter seems to always surround them
along with their practical jokes, that we all know

Because with these two, you never really know
when you' re going to end up looking like a fool
Like getting calls from the bedwetting institute
or being enrolled in the Mid-West Truck Driving School

But the inevitable finally happened
and in the Gazebo, Mark gave her the ring
And they announced the Big Event
would take place the following Spring

And as the Big Day drew closer
they became an even more inseparable team
To the point where their bachelor and bachelorette parties
they shared the same bowling theme

Michele, at hers, invited along this nerd bowler
which was just his luck
And Mark, well he introduced his bowling team
to his new best friend Chuck

but now here we are, it's Wedding Day
and people have come from miles and miles
To share in your friendship, to share in your love
and to share in all of your smiles

And even in these turbulent times
full of all of its toils and trouble
It's good to know, God can still show us
there is such a thing, as a perfect couple.

so in the words of Bob Dylan-
"May God bless and keep you always
may your wishes all come true
may you always do for others
and let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
and climb on every rung
and may you stay
Forever Young"

Alive, Alive, Alive

above is a picture of JimBob and Dwier
taken a few years back when Dwier was home visiting.
Hope you enjoy the quote below. Namaste, Michele

Seek out that particular mental attitude which makes you feel most
deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which
says, "This is the real me," and when you have found that attitude, follow it.

Sunshine!

This is Mr. Sunshine.....Captain Jim Kelly in my apartment at Ohio State.
He used to come visit on the weekends when he lived in Dayton.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather,
always bring your own sunshine.

Woof!!!

Bil-Jac had an open house on Sunday to celebrate the opening of the new building they built for their office space. They flew in some VERY IMPORTANT doggies to help celebrate.
See if you recognize any of them. I guess they get their own seat on the airplane when they fly.
I would like to be on that flight!!!
Our friend, Jim Kelly, is one of the owners of the the company........thank you Jim for making the world a better place!!!
Peace and Love,
Michele

Someday

Jim Kelly (or uncle Jim Bob) as the kids call him .....and I at a Grateful Dead Concert a few years ago. (BLH.....before long hair.) Have a great Day! Love, Michele

that someday, sometime, you will be somewhere, maybe on a day like today--a berm overlooking a pond in Vermont, the lip of the Grand Canyon at sunset. Maybe something bad will have happened: you will have lost someone you loved, or failed at something you wanted to succeed at very much.

And sitting there, you will fall into the center of yourself. You will look for that core to sustain you. If you have been perfect all your life, and have managed to meet all the expectations of your family, your friends, your community, your society, chances are excellent that there will be a black hole where your core ought to be.

Don't take that chance. Begin to say no to the Greek chorus that thinks it knows the parameters of a happy life when all it knows is the homogenization of human experience. Listen to that small voice from inside you, that tells you to go another way. George Eliot wrote, "It is never too late to be what you might have been." It is never too early, either. And it will make all the difference in the world.

May 4, 1970, Tin Soldiers and Nixon's Coming.........

On May 4, l970 members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of Kent State University demonstrators, killing four and wounding nine Kent State students. The shootings have certainly come to symbolize the deep political and social divisions that so sharply divided the country during the Vietnam War era.

Below is a poem by Jim Kelly

Tin Soldiers and Nixon's Coming.........

Wild Wild West

My son wants a lava lamp
for his birthday
He was born on May 4th
I got my first lava lamp
when I was in the sixth grade
May 4th was a memorable day that year too
Four students were shot and killed at Kent State

I can remember my teacher
telling us how she was at a gas station
in Akron, Ohio
and the car next to her had some kids filling up with gas
they said they were heading for Kent
she could see rifles in their backseat
The day after the shootings
my brother was walking
across the his college campus
early in the morning
carrying a briefcase
Two plain clothed cops ambushed him
knocked him down
and confiscated
the briefcase
His almost completed term paper was never seen again

Back home at the dinner table
my dad said Kent
looked like the wild, wild west
He also said
He wished he hadn’t gotten up that morning

My son
just got a new puppy
his dog had just died
He named it Cowboy

Below is a poem written by my friend Jim Kelly. I met Jim Kelly at Ohio State when I was 18years old. Mark and he came to visit. It ended up being a coincidence that he lived next door to my friend Michelle from highschool. He lived in this party house with his friend Vince. Jim was our bestman in our wedding. For Mark's bachlor party, he hired a stripper....Mark got to take the garter off with his teeth.....that was just before the stripper took off his shirt and he had a hairy chest and Mark found out it was really a guy.
There are a million words to describe Jim and all of them would be true.
I guess if I had to pick only four words to describe him, they would be as follows:
MYSTERIOUS, ADVENTUROUS, VERY GIVING, and HIDDEN ARTIST (sorry that is really six words.....)
anyway read the poem below.
Love,
Michele

Video Killed the Radio Star.........

FM

With our little Westinghouse transistor radios
That we got for Christmas
Under our pillows at night
We entered a new world
FM
We were loyal subjects
And we rewarded our kings and queens
By seeing their shows
And buying their records
We really knew the music scene
But didn’t know we knew it
The radio just played the songs
And didn’t tell us why we should listen to it
So we did
And on hot summer nights
In our postered bedrooms
Lou Reed
Rocked us gently to sleep
