the questioning

Isn't the picture above beautiful?
We are here at Lake Chautauqua......a beautiful place that I have been visiting since 8th grade.
My friend Leslie has a cottage here and now they are hosting the five of us for the night.
We went "tubing" today on the lake.
hope you enjoy the quote below.
love,
Michele

In life we are often wiser for
questioning our answers than answering our questions.

Love

Mira's friend, Brielle, made this today at the sanctuary here at Omega Institute.

Isn't it beautiful???

hope you like the words below!!

love,

Michele

"The practice is called the Nonmanifestation of Negative Emotions. I do this practice one full day a week, starting first thing in the morning and continuing until I go to sleep. The practice involves making a conscious effort not to manifest any negative emotions for the entire day, through either external behavior or internal ruminations. This does not mean, however, that anger and other negative emotions will not arise, because they surely will. What it does mean is that as soon as we become aware of them, we make the conscious effort to refrain from indulging the thoughts that fuel those particular emotions."

above is a very special picture that I made on an Etch a sketch last night.
They passed out these at the restaurant we ate at.
We stayed on Penn State's campus and walked around after dinner.
I love being on a college campus.....lots of good energy there.

Mother of us all

by Steven Levine

Mother-of-us-all prays to free us
from our image of perfection
to which so much suffering clings.

When in the shadowy mind
we imagine ourselves imperfectly,
praying to be freed from gravity
by enlightenment, she refines our prayers.

Putting her arms around us
she bids us rest our head on her shoulder
whispering, Don’t you know
with all your fear and anger
all you are fit for is love.

The extraordinary in the ordinary

Above is a view from our front yard.
I am enjoying the simplicity of an ordinary day today......a very big blessing.
hope you enjoy the words below.
love,
Michele

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.

Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.

One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow,

or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world,

your return."

The sound of silence

This is a picture of Macy bouncing around in our yard.
Hope you like the quote below!!
Namaste,
Michele

See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars,
the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...
we need silence to be able to touch souls.

The Art of Disappearing

I took this picture and I hope you enjoy it.....and I hope you enjoy the poem below!!

It is very beautiful.

Love,

Michele

The Art of Disappearing.

by Naomi Shihab Nye

When they say Don't I know you? say no.
When they invite you to the party
remember what parties are like
before answering.
Someone telling you in a loud voice
they once wrote a poem.
Greasy sausage balls on a paper plate.
Then reply.
If they say we should get together.
say why? It's not that you don't love them any more.
You're trying to remember something
too important to forget.
Trees.
The monastery bell at twilight.
Tell them you have a new project.
It will never be finished. When someone recognizes you in a grocery store
nod briefly and become a cabbage.
When someone you haven't seen in ten years
appears at the door,
don't start singing him all your new songs.
You will never catch up.
Walk around feeling like a leaf. Know you could tumble any second. Then decide what to do with your time.

The Mystery

Remember that life does not come in a tidy package. It retains its ragged edges, it's ambiguity, and alas, it's mystery. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

It is better for you to keep asking the questions than to find an answer that makes you dull and complacent.

World Peace

I don't think of it as working for world peace,
he said. I think of it as just trying to get along in a really big strange family.

MOOOOOOOO

Somehow communing with all of the animals at the fair last night connects me to spirit.
It makes me feel lighter......and I needed that.....I have been stressing out about stuff that really in the big scheme of life doesn't really matter!!
Hope you like the quote below!!!
Have a great day!!!
Namaste,
Michele

"I need to recover a rhythm in my heart that moves my body first and my mind second, that allows my soul to catch up with me. I need to take a sacred pause, as if I were a sun-warmed rock in the center of a rushing river. "

from I Will Not Die an Unlived Life

Love

This is a picture that Mark made out of some of the rocks we found at Arlene's place in Ashtabula. Macy found the heart.........and
Mark found the "L" and the "o" almost side by side and that sent us on a search to find a "v" and an "e"........hope you enjoy the picture....we put it on our back porch.....and hope you enjoy the quote below.
Namaste,
Michele

Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible, it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could. --Barbara DeAngelis

Bigger thrills???

That is Macy and Marko on the left end there.....screaming on this big swing!
– Top Thrill Dragster. Reaching a stratospheric 420 feet tall and topping out at an unheard of speed of 120 mph, this new steel screamer helped Cedar Point reclaim the title of owning the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the universe.

I got some free tickets for Cedar Point from my employer, The Cleveland Clinic.
so my parents, Macy and Marko and I went.
We had a lot of fun. I had not been there in over 2o years and either had my parents......Marko had never been there.
The roller coasters that were "the biggest and best" when I was in highschool are now the calm and "babyish" rollercoasters. The new ones have much more speed, height and depth.
My back hurts from all the newer and bigger ones!!!
I was thinking that we Americans have such weird habits.....just the things we do to get a thrill and how our thrills becoming more expansive and bigger and more dangerous.
so hope you enjoy the pictures and the quote.
love,
Michele
