How to Really Be Alive and not blend into the wallpaper.
In typing the below poem in all of these different colors, I realize how much I am becoming my Grandmother VanTreuren!! She was an eccentric lady that marched to her own beat.
She was a lot like Maude from "Harold and Maude" that I mentioned two posts ago.
She lived in California and was a writer. She would send out letters in all different colors throughout the letter. She would send out stuff to inspire people...although I don't know that I got that then. She had this house with hardly any furniture but had about a million books on her book shelves. Her furniture was a bright pink inflatable chair. She taught piano lessons well into her 90's. She never graduated from highschool...she later got her GED and then graduated from college at age 75. Her house was easy to pick out because you could see her garden from a mile away.....lots of huge exotic flowers growing outside her house....I am going to put some pictures of her up sometime.
Mark named his bookstore after her because she had to go to jail for selling banned books in the early 50's. see this link: http://www.deepcleveland.com/evt.html
Anyway...not sure how I got on this subject....I really wanted to share this beautiful Sark poem below....have a great day!
Peace and love,
Michele
How To Be Really Alive!!!!!! By Sark
Live juicy.
Stamp out conformity.
Stay in bed all day.
Dream of gypsy wagons.
Find snails making love.
Develop an astounding appetite for books.
Drink Sunsets.
Draw out your feelings.
Amaze yourself.
Be ridiculous.
Stop worrying now. If not now, then when?
Make yes your favorite word.
Marry yourself.
Dry your clothes in the sun.
Eat Mangos Naked!
Keep toys in the bathtub.
Spin yourself dizzy.
Hang upside down.
Follow a child.
Celebrate an old person.
Send a love letter to your self.
Be advanced.
Try endearing.
Invent new ways to love.
Transform negatives.
Delight someone.
Wear pajamas to a drive in movie.
Allow yourself to feel rich without money.
Be who you truly are.
Believe in everything.
You are always on your way to a miracle.
The miracle is you!
